Michigan continues to challenge for the lead in the race to become as vile as possible.
Voters in Patmos defunded their library because there were books in there that some moral patriots found objectionable.
GOP co-chair Meshawn Maddock gave as a reason voters would choose prehensile amoral chameleon Tudor Dixon over the incumbent is that Dixon is both younger and "hotter" than Whitmer.
It would be incorrect to characterize anything Dixon says as a policy position, or statement of principles, because her only policy is to become powerful and famous. As to principles, no one has ever found evidence she has any; but she has, in an uncharacteristically inept moment, got on the record as saying that 14 year old incestuously raped girls should be required to carry a resultant pregnancy to term, and that abortion should be prohibited even to preserve the health of a woman; the only exception would be to prevent the woman's death.
Looking at the Kansas initiative results by county, there were only 10 counties out of 105 in which the No vote was under 35%. If that means half of women voters in those very reliably Republican voting counties are pro choice, that would have very serious implications for the GOP.
Even worse implications for the Kansas GOP: the No votes from the 30 most populous counties would have produced a statewide 53% No vote had ALL the votes from the other 75 counties been Yes. As the populous counties go, so goes the state.
Every day, it seems there's a win for Biden: the Senate "overwhelmingly", to use the NYT, word, approved the treaty adding Finland and Sweden to NATO - something that Trump and his Pets didn't want. I'm getting a wee bit hopeful about November.
I dont know, Charly. Democrats have to save him from his primary voters because in his then shiny new MAGA House he will buck them all the time, NOT voting with them? And if, for how long? Change affiliation? He could have done now.
I dont see the point. The only thing Meijers wants to save is himself, and thereby increasing the MAGA majority. JVL is right, as usual. Almost nothing here is as it should be, but I dont shed tears for someone who is not already in full opposition to MAGA, and made clear he would not go along in Congress. Call me crazy.
Kari Lake is beyond scary. The Dems must be very aggressive in this election. She is going to screw with elections. Make them honest. Wait. Didn't the Ninja people verify that the election was honest? WTF?
I have let the DCCC know that I won’t be donating any more dollars to them since they have chosen to spend them on Republicans. What a betrayal of their supporters. And what a stupid strategy.
"Kansas Republicans ... sent misleading text messages to voters telling them that a vote 'YES' would protect 'reproductive choice' when, in reality, it would allow the state to ban abortion outright."
Perhaps this made anti-abortion voters vote "No" instead.
I have stopped donating to the DNCC and DSCC and let them know that I am not sending them money so they can piss it away on Republican campaigns. What a stupid, slimy idea.
The quote from Mandela Barnes "on the campaign trail" was from a 2020 interview, a full year before he entered the senate race. Like many others, he explicitly declined to support completely defunding police, but suggested reallocating some of those public safety funds to community services. That is not out of step with what many people were saying in 2020, and I repeat, it wasn't from his senate campaign.
Let's not be surprised that Barnes, a liberal Democrat, has said some things that conservative former Republicans don't have warm feelings about. But the negativism I'm seeing about his ability to win is unbalanced and careless with facts.
The double standard, where every nutty thing a Democratic candidate says is hung around the necks of the entire party, but the nutty things Republicans say are not is alive and well in Wisconsin. Lots of clucking about how Mandela Barnes talked about defunding the police, but who is talking about Ron Johnson wanting to defund social security and Medicare?
I've always been torn among "reimagine policing", "reinvent policing", and "demilitarize the police". Any one works. and it's basically focusing in on community policing, decreasing adversarial posture between police and the community, and increasing public safety resources of all kinds.
I agree that Wisconsin Dems would be playing Russian Roulette by nominating Mandela Barnes, but at least RonJon keeps taking bullets out of the chamber for them. Suggesting yesterday that Social Security and Medicare should become discretionary programs was his latest stream-of-consciousness attempt to help the other side. Beating this guy should not be as hard as the Dems seem determined to make it for themselves.
Kari Lake is subhuman.

I would crawl over broken glass to make this true. But I cant believe it will happen. I live here. But may you be right.

Heh, I see the problem: you're using the old definition of "honest". :-)
