Current Republican narrative is dipping a toe in the water to guage if they should try swimming across or if they should try to find a bridge.
If 'Trump is losing us elections' is poorly received, they'll move onto the next idea. I am both disgusted and amazed at how the Republican party acts as a collective where strategy is concerned. They will absolutely go the Trump way again if they don't find a strong alternate path.
Meanwhile, I rewatched some of the hearing Liz posted, and it made me sick again just like watching the Jan 6 riot/attack. I really feel like Donald Trump should be charged with the deaths of that day, starting with Ashli Babbitt.
Good Lord! Why is anyone paying attention to anything Paul Ryan says? The guy is a seriously unserious tool and a political hack. If he were anything else he wouldn't still be sitting on the board of directors at Fox News and sucking up all that sweet, sweet Murdock money.
Liz Harris, more defiance from MAGGOT World! Funny how it's a rigged election only if the GOP loses, yet when they win there's never an issue regarding irregularities. Do they really think that voters don't see the hypocrisy here.
And yes Suzanne, Chris S. wanted it both ways. He laments that his party supported too many wack jobs, but yet couldn't find the "testicular" fortitude to distance himself from the dreadful Bolduc. He should consult with Liz Cheney about growing a pair!
The comments about the reasons for current separation of a portion of the GOP from Trump is interesting....is it because he is unelectable or because he is a bad person to lead this country. I say you cannot, need not necessarily, distinguish these two possibilities. I would argue he is unelectable because he is a bad person...period. This is the decision of the electorate....the leaders of the GOP (and the Democrats), they do not make these decisions....they simply stick their fingers in the air to see which way the wind is blowing. We as the electorate just need to pucker up and blow with all our strength!
RECENTLY ELECTED AZ state rep won't do her job unless the election is redone. No irony there! Guess she was on her own, dedicated, super unquestionable ballot. The stupid is tiresome!
"but because Donald Trump should never again be president of the United States.” The more accurate phrasing would include 'and no one with the same set of values and disrespect for the Constitution and other laws of this country.' It is not just the disgraced, defeated failed insurrectionist who is the problem, it is anyone who harbors similar ideas and those who follow them either from ignorance or because they hope to profit by it.
Have the GOP masters found some courage to take on the base now that the 2022 midterms didn't result in chaos and losers were able to gracefully admit defeat....except for the one trumptard in AZ...and the rubes didn't fire off their AR15's?
Re: Decoding Elon. Seems to me that we have been down this road time and again. Why are we paying so much attention to this guy and his outsized tech ego? In similar vain, media attention to Donald Trump, followed the same playchart. What percent of US citizens hold a Twit account? EXACTLY!
I have never gone near Twitter. (I avoid social media and have not been harmed by doing so.) I cannot believe anyone, even Sen Markey, believes TWITTER is an Essential Service to the country or her people. To me, Twitter has destroyed conversation, done significant damage to communication, reduced the American adult to expressing in incomprehensible shorthand, made reporters and journalists and media types into lazy lounge lizards rather than people of keen curiosity and ability to research and report, and left public figures incommunicado with anything that looks even remotely like thoroughness or intelligence.
So.... there's that.... (I also have a definite bias against unelected millionaires/billionaires running the country and the planet. The elected ones are bad enough. But that's another story.)
The data have remained remarkably stable over time. According to Per Research, 23% of US adults use twitter. I want sure initially, but I knew that it was a relatively small percentage. I agree with your comments.

Republicans repeatedly tell us who and what they are: authoritarian, violent, self-interested, without conscience, without character, without decent values, without ANYthing like policy or platform, certainly without one iota of interest in governing (rather than ruling), and with preference for harming others, "owning the libs" whatever that means, and indulging in fake culture wars to incite violence, while using their ill-gotten power to make themselves and their cronies richer on the backs of children, elderly and the working poor.
What is not to understand here??? That is who they are!!! And has been for a long time; it's just a lower bar now and a quicker descent into madness and destruction.
Sadly, Democrats will waste the next two years avoiding all relevant issues so Republicans can set themselves up to rule even if they dump Trump doing so.
I never anticipated being ashamed of being an American. Or wishing I had the resources to leave the country. Instead of watching it burn from the inside.
BTW, this is not on Trump the Unfit. Trump and his ilk are just mob bosses and wannabes. They use blunt force and corruption, not tactics or strategies. They are the symptom and result of Mitch McConnell Republicanism. Mitch is the primary cause (and Newt before him, with help from Grover Norquist and James Baker and Scalia). Mitch has succeeded in destroying the Senate (with its arcane rules), House, WH and SCOTUS -- and it looks like it may end up costing him. But it costs us more! He used dishonesty and force against the Constitution and the Executive. That is NOT governance!
(PS: In interests of disclosure, I am an unaffiliated voter in a state where I can vote in either primary now.)
So they're breathlessly pushing the Hunter investigation or McCarthy saying he's going to kick everyone off committees that little ole Marjorie wants off? I don't bother watching Fox even with the sound off.
Yep. BTW...it appears that Paul Pelosi is back on the list this morning. I'll go look at what the "new" article says but my guess is that nothing happened, but they'll act like something new happened and just regurgitate the same information.
The important thing is that they now have an article where their viewers can post hateful stuff about Pelosi.
Just a thought about the crazies 'burning the house down'. This may be a great (and only) way for having 3 major, viable parties - instead of the 2 we've been stuck with for well over 160 years. While that may take a bumpy decade or two to sort thru - it seems better than dealing with a minority rule by fascists.
Has anyone looked at the Forward Party (I think is what it is)? It is 2-3 other start ups including Renew America (again, I think that's right). I wonder if now is the time to think about this.

Liz Harris's constituents are gonna LOVE that. Essentially giving the Democrats an extra vote in the legislature.
Re: Swisher's 3rd point
It makes sense, as he stated, that Musk's plan is to replace the Twitter employees with AI.
Genius! That should work as well as fully self-driving cars.

I thought you might find this article in the New Hampshire Bulletin on "How the media should cover DT" interesting: https://newhampshirebulletin.com/2022/11/21/how-the-news-media-long-in-thrall-to-trump-can-cover-his-new-run-for-president-responsibly/?eType=EmailBlastContent&eId=ad6b84c3-1a2f-4cc7-ae3d-f8a21fdc9a56
Crazy. I thought this was JVL triad with the Eliot quote. Nice one.

Uh, Liz Harris WON her election - and she's calling for a do over. Woman has serious problems.

Ok, I'll bite. What percent?

Thanks.
It has an outsized presence, then.
I appreciate Sen Markey but I don't get why he thinks Twitter is worth saving.

So...believe it or not...after 24 days running...Paul Pelosi is no longer a "Hot Topic" on FoxNews. (i.e. sort of the trending news list)
The announcement of the Special Counsel being assigned to investigate Trump never actually made it to the level of being a Hot Topic.
That pretty much sums up Fox these days....

That's my district: SE Chandler, Maricopa County, AZ. Now you know why I keep subscribed.
