If every conservative (even the Never-Trump ones) needs to apologize for having "laid the track for our current political situation," what about the people who made the Democratic Party look like the worse alternative to so many Americans, not all of whom are crazy racists? For example, many reports have shown a substantial Latino movement toward the GOP, and it's unlikely that they're drawn to white nationalism.
When the Trumpified GOP wins an election (leaving aside the Electoral College issue for presidential elections), it means that Democrats didn't persuade enough people that they're better. And some Democrats appear disinclined even to try to win over voters who think the GOP better represents their interests. In the progressive wing, it's basically "Who cares what middle America wants? Our demands are righteous, and we will never compromise!"
Our current political situation isn't entirely the doing of conservatives.
Anyone who expects the Dems to be more than they are ignores that great pundit, Will Rogers, who said that he didn’t belong to any organized political party, he was a Democrat. Your points are well taken, but as lame as the Dems. are let’s consider the relative sins, if you will, of each party-make a list and there you are. For example, does saying “defund the police “equal black people being gunned down, both are deplorable but really. Being locked into a political party’s ideology is a road to nowhere. But to your conclusion-every one of the people involved in the culmination of TFOG’s dump on our system is a republican. Many of the people testifying before the Jan. 6 panel-all good conservatives-have said that they would vote for TFOG again. So our current situation may not be the soul fault of the conservatives but so what.
