My now freshman college daughter has been online since 8th grade with our approval and guidelines discussed as best practice rather than “these are the rules and if you break them we take your phone or some other negative”. We talked about the pros and cons often. We talked about our own online habits and taking time outs.
As she grew up, she often checked her parents at the dinning table to put phones down. She and her friends spent time together in person, especially when they were able to drive. The freedom of getting out of the house and being together in person was important to them after Covid.
The most challenging time for us was when she was into Minecraft and watching mostly boys “play” Minecraft. Thankfully she grew out of that.
Really enjoyed this episode. What a mature and thoughtful young woman. Sounds like she has a great head on her shoulders and hope she does great things in the future.
Really liked this and will forward to my 17yo daughter. I’ve seen first-hand the influence of social media on teen girls - making healthy, beautiful young people feel not perfect enough.
What an interesting, well-versed, and thoughtful young person!
I loved listening to her thoughts and her advice. I wish her level of maturity and insight existed among the majority of American adults who are my age. Thanks so much for highlighting her film, and for giving her the opportunity to express herself.
Is there a way to see her film?
Not yet; they’re still making the festival rounds. I’ll share it when it’s available online, though.

Excellent interview. I’ll be sending it to her.

Interesting interview with an interesting young woman. Made me evaluate my own online habit. Kudos to you for highlighting this budding talent.
We call them "The Silicon Valley Boys" aka "The California Cartel" and we posted their pic as "public enemy number one" in our latest Campaign 2024 post at https://cosmiceric.substack.com/p/tunnel-comin-guys-gonna-be-wild-and
