The nutty far right will continue to win elections as long as the nutty far left keeps nominating candidates like Mandela Barnes.

Without young people's votes, the Repubs will never win again. From your lips, Scott Walker, to God's ear.

So, did anyone else notice that the Super Bowl winners were going to Disneyland this year? Or was a big deal made about it at the time and I missed it?

I don’t think the Republicans at the state and local levels realize what they have done in enacting or trying to enact extreme legislation in the states - they have awakened the “sleeping giant,” the moderate majority consisting of center-left democrats, independents, and center-right Republicans (e.g. suburban women).

Why would younger voters care after years of active shooter drills and deaths that the GOP have no interest in changing as long as they're getting that NRA and gun manufacturers' money. Guns over Peoples life IS the GOP.

Re Civil War, one federal district court judge in Texas ruling to ban an abortifaciant and another in Washington state ruling to require the FDA not to do so, the judicial civil war has already begun.

Re Thomas: that is big, shattering news. Who until now has ever heard of public officials hanging out with rich people and enjoying themselves? I am quite certain that neither Bill Clinton nor Joe Biden nor Barack Obama nor any other high minded and selfless public servant would even speak to such money bags, much less enjoy their company. Though disillusioned by Thomas, we still can all be thankful for having at least one political party whose officials are pure of heart and above all worldly interests, dedicated only to doing what is best for the rest of us, every day forever.

Not sure how this fits or if this has already been stated but...

Since they expelled the two black legislators and not the old white lady, is there any way for the DOJ to open an investigation into the apparent violation of the civil rights of these two Black men? If it is true that the legislature didn't follow their own process (investigation, findings, vote), and because she was spared, it seems like a blatant case of them being treated more harshly on account of their race.

OH...it finally makes sense now! The reason the GOP didn't impeach Trump for 1/6 was because he stayed within the rules of decorum when he incited the insurrection.

The Dan Kelly concession speech, such as it was, may not make the top spot on Charlie's Deplorables list for the week -- count me as one vote in favor of making that a recurring segment. But it deserves higher ranking among the GOP moments overall. I'll take note of Kelly's sour grapes about being carpet bombed by negative advertising when I see him criticize Ron Johnson, and the PACs that were aligned with him, for the hatchet job that they did on Mandela Barnes last November. That street runs in both directions, if it can or should be traveled at all.

"over the past few years, a number of legislators have kept their posts even after being charged with serious sexual misconduct."

I recall reading recently that the TN PseudoRepubs, PseudoCons and RINOs refused to even reprimand a fellow traveler accused of child sexual assault:

"Speaker Sexton’s tenure has become a focus on social media, with references to his refusal to expel a Republican state representative, David Byrd, who, beginning in 2018, had been accused of child sexual assault years earlier, when he was a high school basketball coach in the 1980s.

...

Republican lawmakers who told me and other reporters in 2019 that they felt uncomfortable expelling Byrd because he had just been elected and they didn’t want to go against the will of the voters….” https://www.thenewcivilrightsmovement.com/2023/04/tn-speaker-who-refused-to-remove-republican-accused-of-child-sexual-abuse-moves-to-expel-three-dems-over-gun-violence-protest/

I guess "the will of the voters" only applies if there is an "R" following the offending party's name. As much as I like Nashville and Memphis I guess Tennessee is yet another state in the union that I will never visit again - they don't deserve my tourist dollars.
