We all know what happens when you shut down the government, they have no clue because it never impacted them. As someone on Social Security, the rage which will ensue when government services are delayed will be huge (I’ve lived through a few). Elon may have no clue, but there are plenty of Republican office holders who do. If they don’t, they will hobble their “power” before the inauguration.

There was no “landslide” regardless of what they claim. People wanted change, but make it even harder for folks to buy their groceries and pay their rent/mortgage and they will turn on those they deem in control. And a South African billionaire is the perfect target.

How, though, do we make sure Republicans can't pin it on Democrats if it happens now? After Jan. 20, that won't be possible, even for Fox News, Donald Trump and Lindsey Graham.

I disagree. People respond against who is in charge when they are struggling. Trump has already walked back his claim he can fix prices. It’s about basic needs, not logic. Most people don’t bother with the news, and when you are struggling to pay bills you look at who is in charge. Biden did a great job, but because folks continue to struggle they laid the blame on him.

Look at the Amazon delivery worker strike. Folks will be pissed at Bezos when deliveries are delayed, no matter what he tries to do to blame the under paid drivers. Delivery drivers and Amazon workers are folks we know personally, especially in smaller communities.

Trump and his minions rode a wave of dissatisfaction to be elected. When things get worse they won’t have the luxury of blaming others—the MAGAs hold all branches of government (judicial, executive and legislative), for now. Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind.
