And we may see Boebert back next year, though thankfully not representing my district. The DNC would do the whole country a favor if they would dump a few bucks into CD 4 reminding the voters *exactly* why her name is so familiar…
He could win but he would be winning in CD-3 which is where Boebert used to be. It was a shrewd move for Boebert to leave. She was less than 50/50 of winning re-election now she is 95%+ to win again in CD-4. And Frisch is still competitive but less dominant against a more traditional Republican since the district got redrawn.
I do understand that. And you are right- it was a shrewd move. She is not smart enough to have thought that through; she has a lot of help.
And I have to say that even the more “traditional” R, Jeff Hurd, seems to have fallen under, or willingly entered, the MAGA bus. There are a lot of good people in this area- I’ve lived here for decades- and they are thinking hard. Adam Frisch is not exactly anyone’s wet dream of a candidate, but he is a good person. That comes through, and it may well be enough. As a community, we have endured an enormous amount of fallout from Trumpism, no matter your affiliation.
We are agricultural- ranchers, farmers. We are recreational- mountain bikers, skiers, hikers, river runners, hunters. We have a huge energy production history- uranium, (which may be having a comeback), oil, oil shale, natural gas.
There is a huge movement toward conservation- water is an enormous issue.
It’s complicated. People are looking for some leadership on these concerns - and they are difficult to navigate.
I have yet to see a current Republican who even has full working knowledge of the whole array of concern. We have had a few brilliant R’s in our past.
Now that performance and news hits seem to be more important that actual substance, consideration, and thoughtful problem-solving, many citizens of our communities are thinking hard about what they want. And need.
I was just surprised she made a move that benefited her and her party. Obviously she didn't care about the party but she knew her prior district wasn't the same when she won originally.
Honestly, I could care less about the hand job at the play...they charge so much for those shows that I'm surprised it didn't come with it. But she's the one that courted the mountain "values" types so she knew that it turned off some of her voters. So switching to Douglas County and the super-Trumpy small counties outside of it was smart because her name recognition is enough to win against several other opponents and the general is 60-40 so she probably will win by a smaller margin but easily win.
They would've had to covertly back a Republican challenger in the primary and would've had to have done so a while ago. Now it looks like she will win easily the primary which ensures a win in November since no Democrat could win that district as it is drawn now.
"Polite society version" when she badgers her staff with 4a.m. phone calls requiring responses within 8 minutes? (8 minutes? Where did that idea come from?)
Scott Perry was my battalion commander in Iraq 2009-10. I worked in his headquarters for several months. He is tireless and was a good commander but since Trump he has been horrible. I talked to him recently and he said “name one thing I did wrong on January 6.” My answer will surely end our relationship. I believe he is guilty of treason.
Four years ago I went with a friend to Nancy Mace’s office in Beaufort to deliver a petition in support of the Voting Rights act. We were shocked when the staffer (completely unprovoked) told us how much they all hated Mace and missed both Joe Cunningham and Mark Sanford. The staffer said that both of them had treated staff with respect while Mace was just demanding and rude. So I wasn’t surprise when all of the bad press came out regarding her treatment of staff. She has no moral compass. She’s just a self promoter. Hopefully her district will send her back to being a private citizen.
That’s exactly what I hope happens. I live in her district. Hopefully one of the Democrats who are in the primary will be able to win back our district from the MAGAs.
I grew up in that district. It's a weird district, and in some ways more like FL than other places. There are several huge retirement communities that attract tons of elderly transplants there for the sunshine and low taxes.
Culturally it's kind of different (think more Savannah/Charleston than Alabama). People really pride themselves on hospitality and politesse, tourism is huge for the economy . But I think all the southward migration to the area has sort diminished this effect in politics.
I don't go back to often. It's depressing to me to see large tracks of my childhood paved over in order to replicate New Jersey.
How long before intelligence secrets escape the SCIF with Scott Perry and Ronny Johnson on the committee? For all people's interest in helping Mike Johnson keep his Speakership, it did come with a cost. He rewarded his fellow insurrectionist plotters.
I remember. We need to keep this out there in the wind. The whole lot of them need to have their traitorous actions put in front of all the voters, with examples of how the country is being harmed by them.
"The whole lot of them need to have their traitorous actions put in front of all the voters, with examples of how the country is being harmed by them."
Incumbent House reps in partisan districts have a very high rate of re-election every 2 years. Their voters in their districts WANT traitorous representatives in Congress. I'm afraid we're stuck with a constant 200-plus of these types for at least the rest of the 2020's.
I’ll bet you one bajillion dollars that there will be at least three pairs of Air Felon Ones (love this moniker btw) on the house floor tomorrow. Fluffers gonna fluff.
Judging by Ronny Jackson's bio, I'd say Mr.October is probably head of the line for a job in a Trump administration. He certainly checks all boxes. Plus he was the physician who glowingly said Trump could live to 200 years.I'm sure Trumpster won't forget that.
Seems like Meek Mike is reverting to type, i.e., doing anything he can to keep the Chaos Caucus and CFT happy with his mismanagement of the position for which he is clearly as unqualified as Perry and Jackson are for theirs.
Not sure about CFT(?), but I thought I heard DJT made the 'request' for Meek Mike to get Perry and Ronny on the committee. Dem's may have to rue the day they voted for his continued speakership. After a painful dose of Ukraine arm twisting. Mike Turner, meanwhile, got a heaping dose of MAGA.
I love your Italian references. I've been studying the language for awhile but never encountered Pugio. Such an apt item for these republicans. Thanks for your reporting/writing.
Nobody beats my Congresswoman, Sheila Jackson Lee, in the staff turnover department. *sigh* I cannot wait for her and Al Green to retire so my city can get some decent representation!! The third largest city in the country in a deep red state desperately needs good representation!! We have people like Jasmine Crockett just waiting.... I'm so fkn tired of boomers.
Mr. Johnson, how is violation of your oath to the Constitution allowed in your mind? Can't keep the oath? Then don't take office. The Bible doesn't support you here.
As a life long resident resident of MN. I can attest to the politics of South Carolina since my brother has lived there for 30 years. All I can say is; what a mess. They have Lindsey Graham, Joe "you lie" Wilson and now Nancy Mace. Maybe there is something in the water down there that drives people nuts or it could be the humidity.
Nancy Mace is the polite society version of Lauren Boebert. Absolutely no contribution to governing, just looking for any attention she can get.
And we may see Boebert back next year, though thankfully not representing my district. The DNC would do the whole country a favor if they would dump a few bucks into CD 4 reminding the voters *exactly* why her name is so familiar…
Hopefully your district sends Adam Frisch to Congress next year.
He could win but he would be winning in CD-3 which is where Boebert used to be. It was a shrewd move for Boebert to leave. The R’s got nuthin’ to bring to the table.
Apologies- a rant long withheld.
I was just surprised she made a move that benefited her and her party. Obviously she didn't care about the party but she knew her prior district wasn't the same when she won originally.

Honest to God, I wish she would just go away.
Cindy,my sympathies! My district was once represented by Michele Bachman and now Tom "tea party" Emmer.
They would've had to covertly back a Republican challenger in the primary and would've had to have done so a while ago. Now it looks like she will win easily the primary which ensures a win in November since no Democrat could win that district as it is drawn now.

As far as I know Mace had not been caught having sexual acts in public like Boebert. The bar is low for the GOP I must add.
Mace has talked about potential sexual acts in public. At a prayer breakfast. https://www.newsweek.com/nancy-mace-upsets-conservatives-sex-talk-prayer-breakfast-1815853
Well, where else would you expect her to talk about that kind of thing?
Irony, thy name is Mace. She probably came from McCarthy's bedroom.
Are you suggesting a new meaning for Mace in your face?😏
OK, low bar granted. But so low that NOT having engaged in sexual acts in public puts you OVER it? OK, it is true that MAGA knows no bottom, but.....
Good attributes to work for Trumpster
There is some video of her and another woman swapping spit and other things. Don't know why the evangelicals don't kick her to the curb
She wore a scarlet letter A in congress so maybe...
Good luck number?
I thought that was only a lucky numbr in the Far East? Are you suggesting we all chip in to send her there?
You are on to something there. (Boebert,Mace and Trumpster) Works for me.
The problem is that Xi would not take them, not without some major league groveling, which is not one of CFT's strong points.
And they get that from Trumpster.
Scott Perry was my battalion commander in Iraq 2009-10. I worked in his headquarters for several months. He is tireless and was a good commander but since Trump he has been horrible. Honor. Such a foreign concept in Trump World. Never discussed in news media these days. Or Right and Wrong. Or integrity. Or trustworthiness.

Why re-inflict her on her district? Just because they were stupid enough to elect her once? OK, maybe that is a sufficient reason.
That’s exactly what I hope happens. I live in her district. Hopefully one of the Democrats who are in the primary will be able to win back our district from the MAGAs.
Any REAL chance of that? It is the Deep South.
I grew up in that district. It's a weird district, and in some ways more like FL than other places. There are several huge retirement communities that attract tons of elderly transplants there for the sunshine and low taxes.

🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞
It is South Carolina politics.By most measures, close to the bottom.
MAGA is super good at finding ali the personality disordered of either sex....which says all we need to know about MAGA voters
Is "personality disordered" in the new DSM? I've never heard the phrase before.
It's more of a category covering multiple diagnosis like narcissism, borderline personality disorder, and all forms of sociopathy.
Cluster B, Cluster GOP
OK, given the source, I'll accept it, but sounds like all your nuts in one cracker.
It is crazy when voters traded Joe Cunningham for Nancy Mace, who seems like she will be a fixture now.
I felt the same when Missouri trade Claire McCaskill for Josh Holly 💩💩
Hopefully they will. Or she may be there for life.
How long before intelligence secrets escape the SCIF with Scott Perry and Ronny Johnson on the committee? For all people's interest in helping Mike Johnson keep his Speakership, it did come with a cost. He rewarded his fellow insurrectionist plotters.
Liz Cheney really chronicled how involved Mike Johnson is on the Big Lie.
I remember. We need to keep this out there in the wind. The whole lot of them need to have their traitorous actions put in front of all the voters, with examples of how the country is being harmed by them.
"The whole lot of them need to have their traitorous actions put in front of all the voters, with examples of how the country is being harmed by them."
And how are we going to do that?
Todays "big" front page story is - Hunter Biden!
I know. It'll be hard.

Maybe not. Matt Rosendale from Montana, a freedom caucus Trump loving stalwart got thrown under the Trump bus twice
Once for Senate and then for his House seat and is now retiring. There is hope.
I know. When it all goes south for them, I would like this stuff to be what they see, so they know that they chose their consequences.
Mike ain’t too bright. He confirms this daily. Speaker of the House? Really?
It should be mandatory to pass security clearances to be on the Intelligence committee. Where is the common sense on this?
We are dealing with a MAGA-run operation, remember. Common sense? Surely you jest.
And don't call me Shirley! (couldn't resist again)
Your spelling is worthy of MAGA😏.
Yes I jest, but felt compelled.
“Intelligence Committee”. How about an IQ exam? If you’re not intelligent you’re not qualified.
I’ll bet you one bajillion dollars that there will be at least three pairs of Air Felon Ones (love this moniker btw) on the house floor tomorrow. Fluffers gonna fluff.

CFT=Convicted Felon Trump, an abbreviation I borrowed from another Bulwarkian.
ABSOLUTELY
I love your Italian references. I've been studying the language for awhile but never encountered Pugio. Such an apt item for these republicans. Thanks for your reporting/writing.
If the Wannabe Felon-In-Chief takes office, the three who should not be given security clearances at all can form a truly unholy alliance.
Linda,
If I could offer a slight correction...Felon45 is not a "Wannabe" anymore, as he has earned the sobriquet of "Felon-In-Chief." ;-)
Nobody beats my Congresswoman, Sheila Jackson Lee, in the staff turnover department. *sigh* I cannot wait for her and Al Green to retire so my city can get some decent representation!! Jasmine Crockett RULES.
Nice read Mr. Perticone
I always love Perticone's stuff. Always relevant, well written and often very sneakily humorous. The best!
Mr. Johnson, how is violation of your oath to the Constitution allowed in your mind? Can't keep the oath? Then don't take office. The Bible doesn't support you here.
Giving Scott Perry access to our national security secrets is one of the worst ideas in the history of ideas.
There has to be a way to limit his and Dr. Feelgood's access to sensitive material.

Oh Nancy, Nancy, Nancy. I miss the days when Amy Klobuchar berated an aide for not bringing utensils, forcing her to use a comb to eat salad.
Quite a wide gap between Amy and Nancy.
Dems can't seem to reach the same level of malevolence and assholery as the GOP can.
Who honestly can?
