I am grateful for Ron Desantis. Every time he speaks, our brains reject what we're hearing; we think he cannot possibly be this awkward? Weird? Ignorant of social cues? And yet he is. The history books will not be able to capture the extent of his awkwardness, but we will be able to boast that we were there.

Ahh, a Twofer!

Two ignorant politicians step all over themselves.

Tuberville’s idiot behavior is no surprise, he’s long been known as one of the dumbest college football coaches in memory. He then rose to the dumbest Senator in Congress within months of being elected to the Senate (doesn’t say much for those voters who put him there).

DeSantis is rapidly becoming a textbook example of the politician who SHOULD NOT go out in public. He can’t help but try to tell people what to do from his superior perspective, be it a depressed 15yo kid, or a Child with an Ice Cream cone. How to mess with their minds, Ron.

Where does the GOP find these political misfits?

It seems like people are not buying the weird package that Ron DeSantis is selling. Do the big money donors really want government intervention in corporations? Are parents thrilled about harassing their kids' school librarians?

Given the challenges in Florida—exorbitant property insurance rates, unaffordable rent, environmental failures, disproportionately high inflation, increasing hostility to educators and friends in the LGBTQ+ community, revisionist Black history, and an extreme abortion ban—it's tough to see why the rest of the country would want this as a model. Not to mention the freaky videos his team puts out.

At this point DeSantis is likely holding out for a Trump health event.

With all due respect, the testimony reported in the spacenews link is about what anyone would expect and isn’t especially convincing. On the other hand, the Administration may well have concluded that Alabama’s abortion laws are incompatible with acceptable health care standards.

This was a Trumpian decision post Jan 6 2021 - anyone imagine that it is not corrupt is dreaming.

The Air Force had not included the cost of relocating Space Command from its current location in Colorado in its calculations.

Further: "The Air Force originally recommended the headquarters remain in Colorado but later changed its stance in January 2021 after a White House meeting during the final weeks of President Donald Trump’s administration".

Then:

https://www.gao.gov/press-release/gao-statement-release-us-space-command-basing-report

"WASHINGTON, DC (June 2, 2022) — The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), the non-partisan, independent arm of the U.S. Congress, today released its report examining the U.S. Air Force’s process and methodology for identifying the preferred location of the U.S. Space Command headquarters.

GAO assessed the Air Force’s process against 21 Analysis of Alternatives (AOA) best practices, which are grouped into four characteristics of a high-quality AOA process—comprehensive, well-documented, unbiased, and credible. GAO found that the Air Force’s process did not substantially meet 3 of these 4 characteristics, leading to significant shortfalls in its transparency and credibility.

Air Force officials told GAO they did not use the AOA best practices because the practices were not required or relevant to basing decisions. However, GAO believes that the AOA best practices are relevant and, if effectively implemented, can help substantiate such basing decisions, increase transparency, and avoid the presence or appearance of bias."

There are what, 5 military bases in Alabama? Make Tuberville really start sweating. Start a nasty rumor

DOD is going to consolidate

a couple to help cut back on

the defense budget.

As for letting Ron be Ron, he

could teach that little ICEE girl how to eat pudding with

not tube feeding from his

JAG days.

This is certainly less politically motivated than what t***p did. Biden does seem to have consulted with the Military before making the decision AND things have changed a lot since t***p moved it to AL, which was most assuredly totally political. Tuberville can pack sand, Military readiness and effectiveness is most assuredly being effected as many of the folks "doing the job" also have another full time job they have to do. This potato is clueless.

"...Some awkward candidates can eventually find a natural rapport with the public through coaching and training. But some just don’t have the goods..."

RD is just a dufus and an anti-humanist, he can't help but himself, even if it kills him. But, who knows, he might even beat Vivek Ramaswamy, an even more umpersonable character.

Unfortunately, it appears it's already illegal to spend DoD money on abortions. Tubernut is a jackass for blocking promotions. Unless you believe our military is already far too top-heavy.

Letting Meatball Ron be himself ain’t going woke for him (pun intended). He’s wooden and unlikeable outside of Florida and mega donors. He’s something like a character out of the Man in the High Castle.

"Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Ala.), who chairs the House Armed Services Committee, said, “It’s clear that far-left politics, not national security, was the driving force behind this decision.”

Even Alabama’s lone Democrat on the Hill, Rep. Terri Sewell, said Biden’s decision “bows to the whims of politics over merit.”"

-----

Coach continues to play the part of a total asshat, and to perfection at that, and Rogers isn't that far behind. The entire Alabama delegation, and the state, are finding out that actions carry consequences up to and including losing major federal contracts. It is clear, at least to me, that this isn't a result of far-left politics but of a MAGAdroid trying to force an end-run (yes, a football term with which Tuberville is surely familiar) to prevent a solder or family member from exercising their choice to have an abortion. The resultant loss of ~1400 jobs and $1billion in federal dollars flowing in annually can be seen as part of a direct response to an ill-informed and dangerous decision made by the senior Senator.

Serving our country by being in the military is not like being a civilian who can vote with their feet and move; In the military - as everyone already knows - you go where you are assigned. If that post is in a blood-red state with draconian measures in place to prevent choice then there is no other option than to travel while on leave to a state where the right to choose an abortion is still legal.

Coach's entire argument is specious from the get-go. There is *no* policy that will reimburse someone in the military or one of their dependents for the procedure itself - as Tuberville continues to imply. What has been offered is additional leave and compensation of some of the money spent to travel to where the procedure can be done. IMO, this is a fair compensation for not having the freedom to decide where your residence is located.

As for Rep Sewell, she, inelegantly, is fighting on a couple different fronts: she appears to be trying to salvage something for her constituents and for trying to survive as the lone Dem in a sea of MAGAdroids (the former is her doing her job and the latter doesn't make what she says correct, it is a justification of her stance).

Don’t be so sure Tuberville knows what an end run is in football.

He didn’t know very much about the tactics of the game he was trying to coach.
