Regarding Jack Smith's reports, I don't care who does it, or if it's against Cannon nose-up-fpotus's (I'm being polite) -butt's rulings. It's not against the law, her rulings are. The cases will obviously be dismissed by fpotus, so nothing is being obstructed. Talk about "lawfare". I am sick of how fpotus gets away with this crap. Release all of the reports and do it now. Note to progressives. In the future, get as many liberal justices on the benches as possible. So we get some freedom and justice.

Regarding Greenland. Denmark and Greenland ought to bully the fpotus right back, show they're not afraid of the big, bad wolf. And meanwhile, send millions of memes making fun of the idea to "truth" social, X, and "faux" news to crash their ugly sites.

Regarding Fetterman. He is a publicity hound, sadly. And for some reason, found it necessary to bend the knee. Unless you're a true blue progressive, you are not for the people. Most Democrats and all Republicans are not progressive, which means, getting government out of legislating anything to do with women's reproductive organs, and forbidding government to EVER legislate on that. It means supporting LBGTQ persons' right to exist, and right to change gender identity - seriously, who does that hurt? Nicknames, pronouns, birth names. C'mon. Half the entertainment industry would have to stop using stage names, or authors', pen names. Stop harassing and demonizing people. Solve bathroom issues locally, with all sides agreeing on something, no blanket national or state decree. Use Olympic Sports criteria if needed in sports. There are solutions without screaming "groomer" incessantly.

Fetterman should be shunned by Democrats. And the DNC should be hunting for a really great D to primary the goon. With friends like him, we don't need any enemies.

Another Manchin/Sinema. Guess he thought he'd take up that slack.

yes that is true but several people were intervening in his half scrambled thinking so we do not have those people in there now

Andrew - if someone had asked Senator Lankford in December, 2020, whether Trump or his followers would actually attack the US Capitol, putting Senators' and Representatives' lives at risk, in order to stop the lawful certification of the election, I am sure then he would have said he was pretty sure Trump "...isn’t actually going to try to attack the Capitol by force...", and would have added, “That’s not who we are.” As much as I respect Senator Lankford's efforts, why would we believe any statements like these? Why would we not challenge Senator Lankford on why we should believe him now?

The primary reason Trump did not take some of the 'off-the-wall' actions he threatened in the first term is others around him blocked many of his worst impulses - will there be people to block those impulses in the second term?

On inauguration day look for a stunt by Trump that will cement MAGA's conviction that he is the chosen one -- something similar to Castro's 1959 stunt of the white dove "miraculously" appearing and alighting on Fidel's shoulder during his victory speech in Havana.

Wait for some false flag event soon after Jan. 20. Trump is itching to use " national security" as an excuse to use emergency powers

"Think of how silly the fretters looked then, who worried that he might! But the unthinkable is only unthinkable until Trump actually tries it. Then we’ve got to get used to thinking it pretty quick."

That's an awful lot of thinking.... that kind of thing doesn't happen in "trumpworld" it's all by the galactic sized orange gut that barely makes it in and out of a golf cart for a round, god help us Andrew!!!

I have to say I am amused to hear the ranting and whinging about the the Social Democrat darling of yesterday making a visit to Mar-a-Lago. I am not sure if Fetterman sees a future for himself in national politics but if he does he is already reading the tea leaves in Pennsylvania. He wants what is best for Pennsylvania and recognizes that to get that he has to deal with Trump.

Good chance he will declare himself an independent and not caucus with anyone? It would give him significant clout with both sides.

That is my fever dream: all it would take is a handful of Republicans to become more independent (though not officially) and a handful of Democrats to declare themselves independent and they could rule the Senate. Sure they might lose some prestige committee posts but in exchange they would have power to bring both parties to heel.

" all it would take is a handful of Republicans to become more independent (though not officially) and a handful of Democrats to declare themselves independent and they could rule the Senate. " Democrats may declare themselves independent but Republicans NEVER will. Why? Because 1)Republicans pledge allegiance to Dear Leader and, 2) Trump makes credible threats to disobedient elected officials and businesses, whereas Democrats do not.

You know, with all the white collar crime Trump and the GOP commit maybe Garland wasn’t the best choice for AG…

The Cannon 3 day pause on release of Jack Smith's reports ended today. The J6 portion is now able to be released. My guess is DT now appeals this to John Roberts' team. Meek Merrick will be cowering in some corner of the DOJ while Team Trump lodges the appeal. That's my deeply cynical bet.

I just can't believe the amount of press the Greenland and Panama takeovers are getting. If I thought he had any strategic vision beyond calling attention to himself I'd say he's brilliantly trolling for headlines and laughing at the ratings bounce. Instead it's an idea-of-the-moment and when it reaches around from his mouth to his ears he considers that affirmation. Trump is 100% driven by whatever gets him headlines and never suffers from the most outrageous pronouncements. All press is good press and press is what feeds him. He means it until he doesn't. Then he jerks the chain and the MAGA sycophant lemmings lunge for the next idiotic cause. And Canada?? AYFKM? People who call themselves journalists are writing serious-sounding analysis pieces that belong in the April 1 edition.

Well, the New York Times is dutifully treating the fantastical as if it were real with pieces such as "How much would buying Greenland cost?" https://www.nytimes.com/2025/01/11/business/trump-greenland-cost.html?searchResultPosition=3

God bless them.

"You’ve got to give Trump world credit." I never give disingenuous attorneys credit. What the Trump-world lawyers are doing is shameful, unscrupulous, and a violation of their oaths of office.

Fetterman is still navigating his inner demons, his hospitalization for severe depression et al. He hasn't progressed very far. He's still in a fever nightmare from which he'll recover when PA voters make him 1 term and DONE!

Expand full comment

I forgot about his depression. What are the odds that PA will vote in another Dem? This is very concerning.

He took some mild heat from some on the left and his response is to go to MAL. There wasn't a need to do it but because he did I would say he shouldn't really be trusted to further the Dem agenda.

Dems trash each other in a different way that the GOP does. GOP will threaten you with primary to set you straight; Dem will co-mingle with GOP and make favorable comments.

Nancy Pelosi should be able to set him straight. She's pretty much a free agent now that she's no longer Speaker. But, then, she is a creature of the rules and norms and probably wouldn't want to step on Schumer's prerogatives. Still, this is bad. I thought once Manchin and Whatsherface from AZ left the Party we would be free of these turncoats.

Big disappointment for him to join the "Eh, he's not THAT bad!" world of Trump apologists. Maybe it's a knee-jerk rebellion against the Democratic party. They're not the boss of him! He's a radical individualist! He does what he wants to do! EVEN IF IT'S REALLY STUPID. And this is really stupid.

Trump’s lawyers “don’t give up easily” because they aren’t getting sanctioned by the courts under Rule 11 of the federal rules. There’s always lots of talk about the 11th Circuit sanctioning Cannon. She’s helping them, sure, but they’re filling the papers. It’s way past time for them to pay a price for their abuse of the system.
