More than just print. Yesterday ABC had Liz Cheney on Sunday show. Later had Christie to talk about debate with Brazil. Christie was not asked to comment on Cheney, nor did he offer. I’m sorry but talk about an elephant in the room!
Maybe as a young boomer/older GenX I am out of touch with where journalism is going but I really miss good solid investigative reporting. I used to subscribe to WP but it just seemed shallow in its reporting. Same with all news casting channels (MSNBC, CNN, Fox, ...).
Right now I get my best perspectives and updates from sites/subscriptions like the Bulwark and Heather Cox Richardson's daily summary (which even though she is too left for me, is fantastic by the way), and a smattering of good follows on X/Twitter.
Where is the "All The President's Men" moment?? There has (have?) to be many opportunities for that in Trump/GOP/MAGA clime.
I truly wish the Executive Editors of the WAPO & NYT would require their journalists to leave personal feelings at home. Too many midway editors allow personal opinions under the “News” heading. The Economist slants News to a “Conservative” way. The BBC does a fairly equitable job. I try to read as many sources as I can to figure out the most reasonable “truth.”
And they’ve given us no reason for hope that their glaring disservice to the voting public will change over the next 60 days. On the contrary, the Times’ Sulzberger apologia last week, curiously published in the Post, indicated his stubborn insistence on doubling down on his paper’s consciously skewed coverage.
The Guardian's coverage is generally better than WaPo's and NYT's. Guardian is especially good on Republican ties to the extreme right, both in the U.S. and internationally.
"Is our press corps up for this moment?"
No. Absolutely not.

It's not polite to body shame Christie like that. :-)

To be fair, some of that good work still goes on, even at the NY Times and WAPO. It's just overshadowed by the egregious clickbait stuff.

Agree.

The NYTimes and Washington Post prove every day they are not up for the moment.
