Sam Stein and Tim Miller dive into a disturbing case where the Trump administration openly defies a judge's ruling by refusing to bring back a wrongfully deported Maryland man.
“We” need to start running ads immediately depicting masked, jack-booted thugs snatching people off the streets and disappearing them. Sure, I know “immigration” as a general issue isn’t the most appealing to typical voters, but snatch, grab and … render? There but for the grace of [deity or non-deity with pull] go you. You have no rights … ?
I'm sorry to hear that Helen. That must be very painful. So sad that your own father is so red pilled that talking with him is not possible for you to talk with him.
Sorry my last sentence was written so incoherently.
But anyway - you do what you can do. Maybe the best you can hope for is to come to a mutual agreement that both sides just not talk about Trump/politics in the presence of the other party? That would be up to your father, I assume. Anyway, I wish you luck.
Am I the only one who thinks El Salvador isn’t handing any of them back because they've been assaulted and abused? Your Tax Dollars at Work!
As bad as US prisons are one suspects that a crowded Super Max built to detain gang members may not be a wholesome place where they’re learning to macrame to fill their time.
Seek, it makes you wonder what's in the black and white of the agreement our two countries signed. Rendition back to the US - is it even included in there? But even if it isn't, you can bet someone on Bukele's side asked about this. I can only imagine the response this pathetic administration gave.
Perhaps the prison expansion are 4 protesters. Because the crowds are getting larger, Trump can declare Marshall law and throw them in the prisons. What do you think?
Bulwark writers, please accuse Trump of weakness. He hates being seen as weak, and may decide to push the dictator. He won’t want to be viewed as too weak to persuade a Salvadoran official to release a person who should be released. Tell Trump it’s WEAK not to bend a foreign leader to his will. No American president has ever given up before even TRYING to do the right thing by showing strength of character and reasoning to leaders elsewhere. Get yourself some bollocks, Prez!
Hold the President and his lawyers in contempt. Fine them effectively large sums that will multiply over time. The President and his lawyers, no matter what his Eva Braun-like press parrot might say, are not above the law. Fight him all the way to the Supreme Court on this.
With naked cruelty, Trump and all those complicit w him are abandoning this this man, with no criminal charges and no accusation substantiated in court by due process, to a terrible fate in a foreign prison. This is easily an impeachable offense. I know, he won’t be impeached a third time. Yet. But he should be widely condemned in the court of public opinion on this. He is thumbing his nose at the Law. The Supreme Court created this monster. Maybe one day they’ll awake from their moral coma and defang him.
Trump and his incompetent administration don’t want to admit they did something wrong… no due process in this country… first they came for them.. you could be next!
He was not here illegally, as such like anyone else here legally is entitled to a trial before being imprisoned. What is the sentence? How long will he be held?
If they can do this to Kilmar Garcia, incarceration with no end, they can do it to anyone
They won’t bring this man back or any others because they don’t want anyone to be available to the media to describe the horrific conditions under which they were held in El Salvador. It’s absolutely disgusting. Many thanks to the Bulwark for staying on top of this and similar stories.
I don't know who has jurisdiction in this case -- the US or El Salvador. That's a question George Conway could look into for us. But there must be some mechanism to correct errors. The only way that couldn't be done is if the person was dead. I think we need government spending audits to make sure taxpayer dollars aren't being spent for dead prisoners. That would be supporting fraud and waste. And I thought we held the good cards? Why is El Salvador beating our hand?

How would a gang member have time to work as a sheet metal work apprentice ?
Can someone please explain to me what happened to Habeas Corpus in this country?
I would check in with my Cuban MAGA dad how he feels about the recent detainment and deportation of Cubans, but I don't talk to him anymore. Sad.

Thank you, Bruce, for your kind words. Sometimes I think I should try harder, as both my sisters are doing.

And since when did Trump have issues with human traffickers!!!!!
POTUS could smooch up with that dictator and get him back but lotus won't.

GOP notwithstanding, articles of impeachment should be introduced. There are clear and easily understood violations of law here.
It won't work and creates a shiny object . Lets pray for a natural death JD is smarter but not well liked

They don’t want to bring any of them back , they couldn’t stand the press coverage of their lies…
What's bonkers is they're paying El Salvador to imprison him -- El Salvador's essentially acting as a contractor here.
Has he been CONVICTED of a crime? No
Not accused, but CONVICTED!

Exactly! The moment this guy is back they will have to deal with a media nightmare - that they totally deserve by the way...
