The problem with the tariff issue -- one of them, anyway -- is that most people simply don't know or understand what they are, because they fail to proceed to the Consequences stage of what happens next when Choices moves in that direction. Or, if you prefer, Actions and Reactions. But then these same people fall into line in the same unthinking manner when they hear "tax cut" because, hey, paying less = good, no need to tell me more. So they don't get to the point of asking where the money will come from to pay our necessary bills for our shared infrastructure -- yet still complain when their roads are crappy, the schools are cutting teachers and programs, environmental problems occur, and on and on. It would be fun to see if they approach their household budgeting in the same carefree manner, especially when a telemarketer calls saying "Boy, have I got a great deal for you!".
On Democratic messaging against DJT, it's good to note that this is not an either-or discussion, that there can be multiple campaign messages out there. That the economy is better than most people perceive it to be. That we have a steady hand on the wheel in the White House who is not afraid to broker deals with the loyal opposition and act as a statesman in international affairs. And that DJT is a demented criminal meganarcissist who cares only for what happens to himself and will use anyone, and any means, to get what he wants. Yes, we can have them all. And with the megacash at their disposal -- not that I am a fan of the unlimited arms race in campaign spending, mind you -- they have no real limit on how much they can get those messages out to where they need to be seen and heard.
And, lastly, a personal but open message to the City of Milwaukee. Dear Milwaukee, feel free to take DJT's claim that he loves you and tell him to stick it up his ass, farther than where the sun ceases to shine. You don't need him. You can do better than him. He will only break your heart in the end. Choose wisely, not quickly when snake oil salesmen come a courtin'. Your fellow Wisconsin friend, Me.
This should be easy for the Biden campaign to explain: Tariffs hurt consumers because it increases the price of imported goods. So they shift to American-made instead? Still gonna cost you more than you're paying now unless you want American workers like yourself to work at low wages with no benefits and pensions. Who's gonna be hurt by increased prices? It's not gonna be rich guys . . .
Also even if corporations move to American-made, it is going to take TIME (even if they actually do it, which I doubt, they’ll take the easy route out and just jack up prices. TIME to build factories, TIME to set up supply chains, TIME to hire workers. The only thing that will happen soon are higher prices and scare commodities.
Good to hear from you, Laura. At least now there is a fighting chance. The biggest gain has been the Supreme Court, though of course that is very tentative, with just a one-vote margin there. Much work remains to be done in the name of fundamental fairness for all, and to wipe away the gross excesses of Walker's divide-and-conquer agenda.

CFFG's tariffs on China - he's hurting the right people.
That's ALL they understand.
This is why Trump doesn't understand them either.
People don’t realize that tariffs mean THEY will pay more.
Trump keeps telling his dummies that China pays when taxes are levied on that country. They are too dumb to realize that THEY pay the tariff

Excellent point, Cheryl.
But Dear Leader said China is going to pay. Don't try to confuse me with your facts. :)
