The Biden campaign should be plastering "suckers and losers" all over the place particularly on Fox with General Kelly delivering the confirmation that it was truly said and that Trump thinks the military is for suckers. All with military personnel behind the General (either in person or video montage). That ad should play 24X7 for the next couple of months so that the MAGA minions learn about their Dear Leader.
It’s simple. Uncle Joe chose the podium position because he wants Trump to start ranting at the end of the debate and go completely off the rails in front of the entire country. He wants us to be reminded of who Trump really is, and giving Trump the freedom to speak uninterrupted is the only way to do it. He wants Crazy Trump to be the last thing we see before we go to bed, so he will be in our nightmares.
But look…Biden is pretty old and he has had a stutter since he was a little kid…so…
If Trump brings up drug-testing for the debate...it will make him completely vulnerable to reminding him that he refused a Covid test at their last one....most likely because HE HAD COVID!!
Trump complained when his lawyer didn’t get the last word in during his hush money trial. Letting him speak last takes that potential complaint away from him. I can’t imagine Trump’s final words will be very inspiring or contain any real arguments For his policies since he really has none. And choosing to give Trump, the last word might have a psychological benefit too as the choice is so unexpected on Biden‘s part.

I agree with Biden's team giving Trump the final word. I hope the Biden team closes with a withering denouncement of the notoriously thin-skinned Trump that puts him on tilt as he seethe and sputters thru his own closing statement. Constant reminders that Trump was a LOSER in 2020 will go far. And a simple reminder that, "If the country was so perfect back in Trump's presidency, then why did millions of voters FIRE him, while his own GOP pals ridiculed him mercilessly (Tucker Carlsoj, Lindsey Graham, Mitch McConnell, etc).
I did twitch a little when I read that “jail time helps Trump”.
Yes, if by “helps Trump” you mean our usual definition for Trump being helped: All of us staring, fitfully, fretfully, at Biden’s polls, doomscrolling at all the articles that say “here’s why that’s bad for Biden”, willing all the voters to “come to their senses”, wondering why the voters don’t come to their senses NOW, wringing our hands in our customary way and saying “What shall we do? WHAT SHALL WE DO??”
A jail sentence, if delivered, will not revolutionize the polls overnight. It will not suddenly make swing state voters sane. It will not make Biden look Gavin Newsom-young or full of Austin Powers-mojo.
What it will do is raise the stakes, and pose the ultimate question to voters for the long term as to whether they want the most powerful man on Earth to be a sprung, vengeful, criminal jailbird.
I suppose that’s “helping Trump” by the narrowest, shallowest of usual definitions. By sober reflection, it’s the opposite.
Trump is a criminal. Jail time underlines that he is a criminal.
P.S.: Apropos, Sarah Longwell said Friday “You can’t roll up your sleeves when you’re wringing your hands like this.” Wise words.
1) “Trump’s Latest Lies About His Lies” – example #10487 (but who’s counting). But the truly sad/infuriating part is that to the vast majority of Trumplicants it doesn’t matter at all that he lied (and the lie is easily proven by extant press reports or even video evidence in many cases). In reality, they don’t even care what he said.
2) Let’s just hope that Biden makes a big deal of Trump’s “suckers and losers” comment. And then let’s really hope that Kelly is willing to publicly rebuke Trump when he inevitably lies about saying it.
3) There’s another aspect of this that I have always wondered about. In an interview with George Stephanopoulos shortly after the 2016 Democratic convention at which Khazr Khan said to Trump “you have not make any sacrifices”, Trump was asked if he had indeed made any sacrifices. Trump’s answer was (more or less) this: “Yes, I have made sacrifices in building my businesses.” So here is someone comparing the personal sacrifices that they made in, basically, just being an adult to the sacrifices made by those Gold Star families. That remark seemed almost blasphemous to me. What I never understood is why the Clinton campaign didn’t make more of that. Because clearly Trump doesn’t really understand the true meaning of sacrifice.
4) Of course, Trump is going to call those killed in service to their country “suckers and losers”. For the same reason that he initially refused to call McCain a hero (and even when he eventually did, it was the most half-hearted statement ever made). It’s because they have achieved a degree of true honor and respect that he knows that he will never, ever achieve. And he can’t stand that. So he has to attack the very thing that gives them that honor and respect. He can’t raise himself up so he has to try to tear them down.
I doubt he made many sacrifices in his business - he lied, got others to finance him, sued people he didn't want to pay, got slaps on the wrist for things people not named Trump would have been severely fined and/or disciplined, etc.
I keep waiting for someone to ask today's version of Alyssa Farah Griffin about Trump's veteran statements. Because she DID try to refute Trump's disdain for veterans, though not convincingly. The Atlantic article states, "Alyssa Farah, a White House spokesperson, emailed me this statement shortly after this story was posted: 'This report is false. President Trump holds the military in the highest regard. He’s demonstrated his commitment to them at every turn: delivering on his promise to give our troops a much needed pay raise, increasing military spending, signing critical veterans reforms, and supporting military spouses. This has no basis in fact.'"
Notice Alyssa Farah Griffin never specifically denied what Trump said. I think she'd likely have more to say about the matter now....
Denial, denial. Picture the ever-errant child refusing to acknowledge that while playing catch in the yard he broke the living room window. Recall the parent witnessing the errant toddler with his hand in the cookie jar, crumbs on the floor and shirt while denying he did just that yet still munching. At that age everything is, understandably an elaborate attention getting device. We understand that, but a 78-year-old toddler squealing denial about documented behavior? Sickening or perhaps his diaper merely needed changing? We all are to blame for ever tolerating such puerile antics for so long in an unfit candidate for the world's highest office. Admit it: we have succumbed to a lower than low standard and what a disgrace! Nobody should ever complain afterwards.
Another article today claimed that Trump needs to come up with something new. Why are we even entertaining such thoughts? What something new could a seditious, convicted felon, autocratic come up with to overcome all that?
Wasn't General Kelly the one who lied about that black Congresswoman from Florida and her remarks at a naming ceremony? Witnesses and tapes refuted his terrible comments about her. However, if I have to choose between Lyin' Trump and Lyin' Kelly, I will choose to believe Kelly because the remarks he assigned to Trump sounded pernicious, shocking, and unpatriotic. And isn't that the Donald Trump we all know and hate?
I don't think Kelly lied about that. He just put a favorable spin on the interpretation of Trump's words -- probably because part of what Trump said had been a garbled version of something Kelly had told him, from the day he was notified of his son's death.
This was all in late 2017, several months before the "suckers" and "losers" remarks in France.
Fascinating choice following the coin flip. If it were two "normal" politicians debating, i would take the last word 98% of the time. Here's a shocker; trump is not normal. Not even close. My best guess the boys doing debate prep will have Joe locked and loaded on the close. By the time trump gets the mic, he should be frothing at the mouth.
Thanks for posting the link to the debate rules, even given their best efforts, no one is quite sure how it will work. For my money, captain bone spurs will pull out last minute because of how unfair the rules are to him. His supporters will buy in and celebrate his "perfect" decision. If that happens they should give Biden unfettered air time.
I for one will be glued to the TV. It should truly be a spectacle for the ages (and the aged).
Trump is predictable and can't counter punch. If Biden already has a decent idea of what Trump will say, he can make his points in a way that takes away whatever Trump would've said. And Trump won't have a counter.

"Trump Is Still Lying" should be on his gravestone.

Gen Kelly needs to go on camera and say what he has been very reluctant to say on or off the record.
Somehow I doubt he will.
People who just do the most minimal thing seem to want to have an abundance of praise; in Kelly's case he shouldn't get much.
General Kelly is a Marine and needs to step up to save the country by doing this in person in front of cameras.

Drug tests for all! I want to know what, besides Adderall, is in Orange Boy's blood stream.
Haha-loved that caption.
I showed that to my gay brother-in-law: he said "just wait-they'll be fighting over who is wearing the veil and who gets to own the Miata"
I’m confused…but that happens to me a lot.

Over the top ring.purde too big, groom I’d kinda…ugh. I guarantee you gay people would do this better.

I think that those who are pushing for Biden to pardon Trump and Hunter are idiots. Talk about putting a band-aid on a gushing chest wound...
