Bummed I missed this but I was catching up on the Jan 6th hearing since I missed it for work! (Go figure since it’s in the middle of the work day). Looking forward to listening as soon as it’s published!

Mike Pence did the right thing at the 11th hour, but he failed us in the hours before and after. He’s delusional if he thinks he has any chance of winning his Party’s nomination—ever. If it’s not Trump, it will be a Trump lite wannabe. Mike Pence would be better off proving he has some courage. I won’t hold my breath.

First time long time. My question is this: Should we be leery about the lionization of Mike Pence? He was quite weak on Trump until he wasn’t.

Why aren't the people who attacked the capitol called what they are: Republican Christian White Trump Terrorists? If they were Muslims we would be calling them that and insisting "Good Muslims" exercise these "Bad Muslims" from their faith, as we did after 9/11. Is it because they look like us that we are too afraid (wimps or pussies, in Trump's words? CALL THEM OUT! Republican Christian White Trump Terrorists.

Today's hearing was heavy on the "yay Mike Pence!" Does that get us any closer to following JVL's advice and getting him a Medal of Freedom?

I felt like there was a lot of fluffing Pence’s ego. Maybe they think he will testify?

When John Eastman was confronted with the possibility that, if Pence subverted Biden’s victory, there might be not just constitutional chaos but trouble in the streets, he was, to all appearances, unperturbed. It struck me then that trouble in the streets was, in fact, what Trump wanted, since it would give him the opportunity to put the Insurrection Act into effect. The most remarkable thing about the whole attempted coup, to my mind, is the restraint of the Left, which never rose to the bait. It may be that they did not grasp how serious the situation was, but I suspect that some smart people knew that any disorder would give Trump the excuse he was looking for. (I am no more — or not much more — favorable to the Left than you are inclined to be, but in this case the dog that didn’t bark may have saved the country . . . for now.)

Hi guys! Rachel Maddow claimed last evening that all the work necessary to indict Trump, et. al. has been completed by the Jan 6 Committee, including references to specific federal laws violated. Will the DOJ indict Trump? and do you agree with Maddow?

What can you the "normal" "sane" Republicans do to persuade those that have not been co-opted by the Trumpists/ Crazies to argue your positions in a grassroots level?

If a two party system contributes to the demise of democracy in the U.S. by disempowering minority groups that then manipulate the system in order to gain control, then might a multi party system give those smaller groups a voice and, thus, less incentive to oppress others in order to gain power (unless of course autocracy is the ultimate goal)? As a practical matter how would we move towards a coalition form of government.

What are the long term implications for the rule of law if NO indictments come out of the information revealed by the Jan 6th committee?
