This country has a massive vice problem. It's not that everyone is some sort of sexual deviant. The vice problem comes from the fact that our society is organized to honor one of the seven deadly sins: greed.

Innovation? It's possible for people to want to improve mankind without making a buck. Jonas Salk refused to patent polio vaccine because he wanted it available to everyone. Maybe that's why money grubbing Republicans don't trust vaccines. It's not that vaccines are poison, they just don't trust someone who isn't into making a boatload of money on his discovery
Yup. When you define "success" as getting rich inside of a national culture then greed and self-interest become the prevailing characteristics of that culture.
Envy as well. We arenтАЩt satisfied if someone we follow on Instagram seems to be living a better life than ours. IтАЩm so close to deleting all the Meta apps.
I was hoping some would lead a massive deletion of their FB accounts, but it didn't happen. I bet the people who care about the stuff we care about are far and few between.
Greed is America's original sin. Goes all the way back to our human trafficking founders, through our genocide of the native populations, manifest destiny, to our current fascist tech bro oligarchs.
That is so true. But in history it seemed that tribes or countries were always fighting for more. I could understand if where you lived was poor and you needed better land or water or space, but even when people didn't need those things they still invaded. Genghis Khan, Rome, Ottomans, the Huns, the Saxons the Danes the Normans, the British, French, the NAZIs etc. I think man just likes to hurt people and take their stuff.

Without greed how do we drive economic growth?

The economy doesn't grow via innovation, the economy grows via increasing consumption.
How do we care for each other is a much more important question.
Agreed, but is our system compatible with caring for each other?

Yes! I did it! This is how we fight back!

ItтАЩs civilizationтАЩs original sin.
Which is what drew Musk here in the first place.
