Awesome opening pod and I very much look forward to future episodes. Several great things came up during this convo, but three really stuck out for me:

Awesome opening pod and I very much look forward to future episodes. Several great things came up during this convo, but three really stuck out for me:
1) Yes, dems need to get back to their sex appeal roots and stop being older graduate school dorks. I've said it before and I'll say it again: when dems go young/cool/sexy/charismatic they tend to win (JFK, B Clinton, Obama), when they go old/dork/busted they tend to lose. Dems need to *Stop* playing the seniority hierarchy game when it comes time to pick a president and need to start thinking about choosing the right person for the moment rather than what old bag from yester-decade is next in line in the senate.
2) Trojan Horsing. This was such a huge point that is very valid. Shit starts off with memes and "jokes" that can quickly become accepted logic once a meme has been normalized for an individual.
3) Yes, the military *can* bring people toward left-leaning positions, and I am/was one of those people. Dems just don't know how to message to this group. This should be done in a *negative polarization* way by comparing the values of the military to the values of the American civilian world. In the military, the strong help the weak. In the civilian world, the strong leave the weak behind and rule over them via entrenched classism. In the military, the top general makes like 10x what a private makes. In the civilian world, a CEO makes 300x+ what their low-level employees make. In the military, the team is more important than the individual. In the civilian world, the individual is more important than the nation. Stuff like this.
