This is something that I've gradually started coming to realize, that the popularity of Trump and his ilk owe a lot to a hypermasculine "fuck you" attitude. There is something particularly "American" about it. Gen Z might call it "swag". I'm starting to think that it might be to the extent that it doesn't even really matter how much he fucks everything up as long as he looks "alpha". If true the best thing to do is to just make him look as weak as possible. Calling him an "authoritarian fascist" just makes him look stronger. I suppose it is harder for Democrats policy-wise because "caring about people" looks intrinsically weak.
