I am a 71 yo White, straight Boomer. I am a JFK liberal (look up the quote if you are interested) and we are a family of "awake" people. I am really glad I listened to the discussion today. I am not the typical septuagenarian. I am a Dad of a millennial and two Gen Zs. All three of my "kids" are college-educated, smart, intelligent, and informed. One works very hard in a traditional job. Another is trying to figure out how to live her dream, and the other is in her last semester of college. While I get good-natured putdowns about being an old guy, and "Did they have tvs back then," my daughters respect my experiences, knowledge, and opinions. I really enjoy talking with the Gen Z people who I get to meet through my daughters. They are good folks. Here's my bottom line on kids today. They will eventually figure shit out. Just like I did. BUT, in their defense, I do believe it was a lot easier for me to figure things out in the 1970s than it is a half century later for them in a technocentric society.
