I’m a boomer too! I love all the various different Bulwark podcasts. Becoming addicted so I may need an intervention.! decided to check this out since I have grandchildren in the Gen Z age and just wanted more understanding of the perspectives in general. This was a great podcast thank you guys for doing it. I learned a lot not the demographic he was looking for, but from the few comments, I read you’re getting a lot of of us are trying to figure the generational perspectives. Maybe that’s a characteristic of many boomers !!!!’LO L O L O L.
Thanks for doing this guys. I will watch some future episodes as well.
I am happy to join a paid subscription. I am motivated to leave a comment:
On the podcast Trump 2.0 you discuss how the MAGA world thinks of itself as an embattled minority, which it may. You missed the point that Trump and Project 2025 are testing any and all limits on their power; they are using the gay paranoia as a popular culture issue to test whether the executive branch can order the deletion of all references to...well anything, in this case, gays. Trump is making a Jackson Pollock painting and throwing EVERYTHING against the wall to what sticks. Thanks for taking in comments.
Yo! Boomer here. Sending you a message is Very difficult. I just asked a Gen Z Friend if he was going to a local protest in his area. He responded...."What are we protesting?" WTF?????
Another boomer here, Cameron is correct about the importance of social connections.I loved your story of reaching out to socially awkward kids who have become your good friends. Your kindness reminds me of volunteer work that I'm fortunate to do. As a retired social worker, I found a place to quietly use my skills. I support/guide older teens who facilitate service & moral empowerment groups for 12-15. The older teens don't really need me there, but parents feel more comfortable with an adult in the room. What I found is the teens don't really need me there, but they enjoy teaching me about what's and learning from me too. how to use their favorite game apps. One of the core element of the group are arts/music/skits activities and service projects. The group decides on projects which have ranged from helping a sick or elderly person with yard work, fundraising to buy hygiene products for homeless people & food drives. The older teens facilitating the group are fabulous and I've seen them become kinder and more compassionate.
Hey Tim, Boomer here and HUGE fan of you, Sarah, JVL and everybody connected to the Bulwark. Upgraded to the highest subscription package and I am an ardent evangelist. Cameron cut me off at the knees when I saw him on your show months ago. Damn what a guy and I am so grateful to hear Gen Z. And that Dylan. “Oh dear.” You guys know Adam MOCKLER at Meidas? Can you integrate him somehow? Adam is sensational, beyond eloquent, with a humoungous heart and a moral kindness that is stretching around the globe. Way to go Miller- you got the goods big time.
I’m so old that I don’t know what “gen” I am (probably late baby boomer?) but this discussion was so insightful for me and I love you guys’ sense of humor! Thanks and I hope I can still make time to keep reading!
Love, love, love this podcast and getting a new perspective on so many issues! Thank you Tom & Cam for doing this. You have hooked this 78 year-old boomer. I look forward to watching every podcast in future.
Tim, he not exactly a Gen Zer, probably not even a millennial, but have you heard of Richard Reeves, ("Of Boys and Men")? He might be interesting to have on the show. The problems that Dylan was describing about GenZ and even some of the younger millennial men seem to have going on Reeves has all the stats on and some theories of his own, of course.
As a feminist 75 year old boomer, I've seen the change in women's lives mostly for the good, with one big step backward a couple of years ago, but it pulled me up short to realize that young men are currently the orchids in our demographic garden. Actually, it appears they are.
Just listened! I love this as I am very much like Tim. 42 yo with a 6 yo and other little. I have almost no contact with the Gen Z bros. Im excited to hear more and gain a new perspective. Love all the swearing
