“Trump accepts endorsement from indicted gang members”. Can the Dems please put ads on FOX News 24-7 blaring this headline?

A bit off topic, but heartening. For those of us who have questions about polls - check this out. https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2024/5/24/2242572/-Nate-Cohn-just-put-asterisks-by-every-NYT-poll-of-late-showing-Trump-leading?pm_campaign=front_page&pm_source=trending&pm_medium=web. Seems the NYT polls have been a tad misleading.

Noting the Oracle's prediction, before grandpa Frederick came to the U.S. (as an immigrant of course) and changed the name to Trump, it was Drumpf. I'll take comfort in the six letters of that fact.

"On Tuesday, it was revealed that a federal judge found over a year ago that there is sufficient evidence, if believed by a jury, to find that Donald J. Trump committed numerous federal crimes in connection with his alleged theft of classified documents and obstruction of the FBI’s attempts to get them back."

No kidding. The Florida classified documents case is a slam dunk conviction. On the other cases, Trump has legal defenses (although some are weak) that he can assert. But he has no legal defense in the documents case.

I am overdue for my rant on Merrick Garland. Garland took office on 3/11/2021, more than 4 months after the insurrection happened. He didn't appoint Jack Smith until 11/18/2022, 20 months later! Smith tried so hard to get the prosecutions started, but by the time he was appointed the campaign season had already started. Trump was in position to claim the prosecutions were going after him for election interference. Even better for him, he was by then in a position to use legal delays to push the prosecutions beyond the election.

We can complain about the delays caused SCT taking that silly immunity case. We can complain about the Florida judge who seems either incompetent or trying to help Trump. But at the end of the day, none of this would have mattered if Garland had appointed Jack Smith shortly after he took office. Trump would be going into the 2024 election as a convicted felon. He probably would have also spent time in prison as a result of the conviction(s).

It's ironic that the people/entities that the Trump world hate so much are those who were invaluable in helping Trump getting elected. In the 2016 primary cycle, CNN gave Trump enormous free publicity, airing his rallies live while giving extremely brief coverage to the other R candidates. If it wasn't for James Comey's late announcement about the investigation into Hillary's emails, Hillary probably would have won in 2016. You also had Mark Zuckerberg and Twitter aiding the Trump campaign by pushing foreign misinformation. If Trump wins in 2024, the one person who made it possible more than anyone else will be Merrick Garland.

I believe Garland and the DOJ were operating under the assumption that if they left POTUS # 45 alone to simply mope and grift from Mar A Lago, that somehow the country would return to normalcy and move on. And by the time they figured out this was not the case, he had already outwitted them and declared himself a candidate for 2024. The moment he declared, all else that has occurred was fait accompli.

"The IDF successfully evacuated the majority of Gazans from the city with minimal loss of life." Uh Huh, praise the IDF. They evacuated them to a place with no shelter, no food, no medicine. Can we count up the loss of life in, say 6 weeks from now, and reconsider the praise?

They didn't "discover" those tunnels in Rafah. Those have been known for years. WIKIPEDIA talks about them and did before the Rafah operation started. I checked the first time I saw something about anticipated tunnels, before an IDF soldier had hit the ground. They are smuggling tunnels an they dead end, because Egypt has blocked them from its side. It is kind of like saying "lets bomb the hell out of the south of San Diego because drug dealer tunnels harbor bad people."

In fact, I'm kind of surprised that the GOP hysteria over the border hasn't led to more proposals to bomb and flatten everything near the border and create an easily patrolled and occupied no man's land. After all, opioid overdoses have killed way more people than Hamas or the IDF have.

I am sensing a new ‘Plank” in the 2024 GOP Platform: “Make San Diego the new Lunar Landscape” Again? (Or, ‘Like Never Before’)

I shouldn't let the things trump and the GOP do still enrage me - but they do.

Their attitude towards people of color is a particular one at the moment. "We need that POC vote!" thinks trump - and his team get to work finding those who will support him. Never mind that they are indicted for murder, conspiracy etc. "Who cares? Those people out there are too dumb to know the difference!".

It is SO insulting to the Black population, and all of a piece with them pushing forward Black candidates with mental health issues, Royce White and Herschel Walker spring to mind. No wonder President Obama drove them crazy - educated, articulate and charming - he didn't fit into their disgusting preconceptions at all!

As to the Mar A Lago fiasco….the fate of that case , no matter how simple and airtight a conviction would be , was decided as soon as Judge Aileen Cannon was assigned the case and Jack Smith did nothing to fight it. Too late now, and for all the good things Jack Smith has done as special counsel , this monumental blunder, destroyed any possibility of this case ever even coming to trial. It is as if Satan had a birthday wish, and it was granted. I don’t believe in random occurrences. Evil forces do, in fact, protect Trump.

Do you think a preemptive request to remove Cannon would have succeeded?

Correct. He will only have one shot at getting her removed, and trying to get her removed at the start would have weakened that chance.

Bibi has made his choice…he would allow the destruction of Israel before he would voluntarily step down and subject himself to the corruption charges brought against him. My opinion is to pardon Bibi and deport him never allowing him to return to Israel again.

China is probably Saudi’s biggest customer. One must show some respect for a major customer. One day with Saudi’s new industries we might be an important customer. Right now we must settle for being an important supplier. The rich always have more reasons for wanting stability than non-rich ideologies. There seem to be many from each camp in the Middle East. 50 tunnels seems like a lot to supply food and other consumables. It’s seems to indicate, along with recent attacks, a long term desire for instability. But Israel has more than one leader and will hopefully find a long term strategy that faces all the issues. As we know from this weekend, when there is war there is death.

Bill, I believe at the time the Oracle was active, Greek was still using the beta to denote the "B" sound. It wasn't until just a few hundred years ago that the use of mu-pi began doing that job. In which case, we're still at 50-50. Looks like even the Delphic Oracle is a poll watcher.

As to BiBi … he has long ago made his choice.. he pick’s his own political power over the good of his country. He would oversee the utter destruction of his country rather than to step down and subject himself to the corruption allegations brought against him. My opinion, for the good of the country, make a deal. He steps down and is pardoned for his potential crimes but is deported to the US where he can be Trump’s VP.

What has all the Palestinian slaughter accomplished? Netanyahu always has another offensive and more deaths in mind. This time it's Rafah. He has relentlessly argued the city is essential to wiping out the bad guys. Military analysts have noted the opposite, indeed a child could have noted the same — that most of Hamas is by now long gone. They weren't about to stick around in the face of overwhelming force.

And so the IDF will be back, having accomplished pretty much nothing, just as it did in central and northern Gaza. The Israeli military leveled those territories and killed innocents by the thousands. It has now returned to both, because Hamas returned.

Which encapsulates Netanyahu's ideal war — the never-ending kind.
