So essentially Romney is afraid to take on Trump or hold him accountable because his crazy cult supporters would get crazier. He keeps thinking that if people acted differently toward Trump and MAGA's, they would shift into a less crazy, more rational approach? When the truth is that every time Trump gets away with something, he does something much worse and so on and so on.

Also, no one should ever discuss pardoning a serious criminal who acknowledges no guilt, expresses no remorse and tells us he's going to keep doing the same crimes, only worse. Cowering before MAGA insanity will not save us.

Both parts were excellent...thanks

Yay Biden. He smiled when asked about Trump on trial. Good for him.

I just had to try out the rock experiment Will mentioned, on Trump's inane comment that global warming-induced sea level rise increases beachfront property. While the scripting and video production are subpar at best I thought it might entertain someone here...

Regarding some sort of attack, lone wolf or mass, do not discount the possibility of that coming from the "left", broadly speaking. If we believe that someone MAGA, which represents a confirmed minority of the country, can be frustrated enough to stage an attack if kept from power, we must consider that the same would hold true for someone who loses from what they considered to be the majority. November 2024 forward will be treacherous, I'm afraid, no matter the outcome

I don't think we're going to have to wait very long for climate to be an electoral issue. This year looks to be a horrible hurricane season - when the storms are the size of five states, climate will be undeniable as a threat. Remember in 2012 after Hurricane Sandy scared the hell out of everybody? It had a definite impact on the election. The Democrat with an actual policy to confront it was the only option. The heat is already deadly in the southwest and it's just June 5th...

Also, remember this - back when Republicans believed in science - Pelosi and Gingrich climate ad campaign:

Maybe - God willing - the eye of a hurricaine will pass right over the Mar-a-Lago club. (Of course, this time of year Trump would be in Bedminister, NJ, or elsewhere.)

Tim - the law having an impact on behavior is the point. These people REALLY don't care about the lives of mothers. They are not pro-life. They are not for limited government They are pro-retaining power, and anyone who isn't with them isn't worth protecting

I always appreciate Will’s takes. Tim, I think a conversation between you and Charlemagne Tha God on the Bulwark would be really interesting. He’s already doing the rounds with the new book. Just a thought homie.

The Germans have been frustrating for so long. They are the biggest economy in Europe. The war guilt excuse has to end. It’s been 80 years. They need to kick in and build their military up

Japan's ruling party is taking baby steps towards sidestepping the pacifist constitution, but every such step is opposed by large, vocal minorities.

We put those constitutions in place in Germany and Japan. It's time for a change. I think they are changing, though, stubbornly and slowly. Japan is exploring nuclear energy. And I think the Germans are seriously thinking about their defense finally. Just not fast enough for me.

Come on guys. When you know something is horrendous, CALL IT OUT. No more if / if only. CALL IT OUT! Do you really think that we who have not been able to climb the pole have any regard for those of you who get there because you look to be white, male, and otherwise acceptable? I would remind you that more than 50% of graduates (and possibly PhDs) are the rest of us. Get with the program. The 1950s/60s/70s are OVER!

I think the possibility of violence among members of mobs. The Proud Boys are coming back.

There will be lone wolf violence for sure. But there will be more organized violence.

This is very anecdotal, but in the vicinity of my tiny hamlet in rural western Maryland (but only about an hour from the DC beltway in good traffic), there has been a surge in semi-automatic target practice at multiple locations. There have always been shots in the distance during hunting seasons. This is different.

In the farms that surround my town of 150 people, it's increasingly common. While walking my dog just now, I heard semi-automatic target practice a couple of miles away. When I bought a 12-gauge in 2020 in the neighboring county, about 30 minutes away, the dealer told me about a guy who has a farm on the ridge with a sizable stockpile.

People I knew from high school decades ago participated in the flash-mob militia at Gettysburg that year. Others I knew brandish their semi-automatics on facebook.

In my tiny town, two marriages have dissolved over MAGA. Three houses down, one MAGA divorcé stockpiled guns and ammo. They other flies an upside-down Fort Sumter American flag (I don't know why he chose that flag). Just north of town, one veteran flew the black No Quarter American flag. "No quarter" means take no prisoners.

I'm going to visit my cousins in Hampshire County West Virginia this weekend. I'll try to get the inside scoop without it sounding like reconnoitering. But they know I'm anti-MAGA. The family reunion there last year was icy.

No, it's going to be worse than lone wolf violence. We're not ready.

I live in a semi rural place in OH...I work in Commerce Parkway, mostly self owned businesses, mostly male owned and centered...they actually ( though it is actually illegal, but the local sherrifs ignore it) practice in the parkway behind their buidlings, very loud and I swear someone was shooting off a actual cannon once...
